Braised Beef
This braised beef recipe is made with braising beef, but sometimes I also use beef cubes. It’s a slow cooker recipe, and you know how much I love the slow cooker. You will need prepared horseradish, here's a link you can use. I love making comforting dishes and this recipe is definitely one of them!
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp flour
- 700 g braising beef
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 6 shallots, peeled and cut in half
- 1 clove of garlic, minced
- ¼ tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp curry powder
- 2 tsp brown sugar
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tbsp prepared horseradish
- 2 carrots, sliced
- 1 bay leaf
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the flour with salt and pepper.
- Coat the beef with the flour.
- Heat the oil in a pan and brown the beef on each side. Place the beef in the slow cooker.
- In the same pan, cook the shallots for ten minutes until they are golden.
- Add the garlic, ginger, and curry powder. Cook for one minute.
- Transfer the shallot mixture to the slow cooker with the beef.
- Add the sugar. Pour in the beef broth.
- Add the Worcestershire sauce, the horseradish, the carrots, and the bay leaf.
- Mix, season with salt and pepper.
- Cook on low for 5–6 hours.
