Braised Beef

This braised beef recipe is made with braising beef, but sometimes I also use beef cubes. It’s a slow cooker recipe, and you know how much I love the slow cooker. You will need prepared horseradish, here's a link you can use. I love making comforting dishes and this recipe is definitely one of them!

Ingredients
  

  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 700 g braising beef
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 6 shallots, peeled and cut in half
  • 1 clove of garlic, minced
  • ¼ tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp curry powder
  • 2 tsp brown sugar
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp prepared horseradish
  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl, mix the flour with salt and pepper.
  • Coat the beef with the flour.
  • Heat the oil in a pan and brown the beef on each side. Place the beef in the slow cooker.
  • In the same pan, cook the shallots for ten minutes until they are golden.
  • Add the garlic, ginger, and curry powder. Cook for one minute.
  • Transfer the shallot mixture to the slow cooker with the beef.
  • Add the sugar. Pour in the beef broth.
  • Add the Worcestershire sauce, the horseradish, the carrots, and the bay leaf.
  • Mix, season with salt and pepper.
  • Cook on low for 5–6 hours.
