Maple Caramelized Onions
This maple caramelized onion recipe is truly perfect — it’s super simple and flavorful. It’s the perfect recipe to go with a nice cheese board. I especially like to make this recipe when I’m preparing a good soup: I put a bit of caramelized onions on a piece of bread and broil it with some mozzarella cheese. Ingredients
- 3 medium onions, halved and thinly sliced , This equals about 2 ½ cups of sliced onions
- 1/4 cup butter
- 2/3 cup maple syrup
Instructions
- In a pan, melt the butter.
- Add the onions and cook for about ten minutes, stirring constantly, until the onions start to brown.
- Then add the maple syrup and continue stirring until the syrup thickens slightly, about 3 to 4 minutes.
- Serve on a piece of bread or toast with cheese.
